Mmmmm, muffins (http://share.mylittlekaraoke.com/Uploads/MLP%20-%20Muffins.zip). Seriously, though, does anyone know the difference between cupcakes and muffins?

Thanks, internet!
Cupcakes have a colorful sugar layer on top. :P
Now we know, and knowing is half the battle.
Also, muffins are usually more "savory" than cupcakes and cupcakes are usually more "sweet" than muffins. A cupcake is usually made from cake batter and has cake-like frosting on top. On the other end of the spectrum, muffins never have frosting... and there are even some that are healthy for you (egad!) Muffins are generally a breakfast food. Cupcakes are a dessert.
And, in general, commercially baked and sold muffins are 2-3 times the size of commercially baked and sold cupcakes.
